A good adventure out always usually ends in a trip to a cafe. Below you can find my favourite cafes and coffee stops I’ve been to. Keep checking back as I’ll add to this list as I discover more.
Bad Girl Bakery – Muir of Ord
Bad Girl Bakery is in Muir of Ord in Inverness-shire. I only tried out their cakes which they had quite a choice of and left with a coffee. You can sit in and they also have a little shop where you can buy cake mixes.
Details: sit in and takeaway. Parking available across the road.

Cairn – Kilmacolm
Cairn is a small cafe in Kilmacolm, they do all day breakfasts (the non greasy kind) and they have a little takeaway hatch for those on the go.
Details: sit in and takeaway. Parking available across the road.

Coach House Coffee Shop – Luss
Situated in lovely Luss, Coach House Coffee Shop is a great place for coffee and food. They have lots of tables inside but there’s also a courtyard area. Their drinks menu has a wide variety and their coffees all have fun names – I chose the Ben Lomond coffee which was a cappuccino with marshmallows and a dusting of icing sugar.
Details: sit in, parking available in Luss main car park.

The Farm at No 12 – Renfrewshire
The Hill House – Helensburgh
The House was designed by architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh and sits on a pretty street in Helensburgh. Visit the cafe for food, cakes (especially their empire biscuits) and coffee. Afterwards, you can climb the box and see over the house!
Details: Run by National Trust for Scotland, parking nearby.

Idle Hands – East Ayrshire
Idle Hands is a small coffee shop in the little village of Dunlop. From the outside, it’s not easy to spot but once inside, you’ll be impressed with their cake selection. They sell cheeses, chocolate, coffee, bread and gourmet foods.
Details: takeaway only, limited parking on streets nearby.

Strathpeffer Sweet Company – Inverness-shire
Not a cafe but a decent coffee spot! In the Victorian town of Strathpeffer, right on the square, is a rotunda style shop – we weren’t expecting to get a nice cup of coffee here but we did! They use coffee beans from Inverness Coffee Roasting Co and they also do waffles and bubble wraps.
Details: takeaway but has picnic benches outside. Parking available in town car park.
