A special anniversary called for a special celebration, so I chose the beautiful Treehouses at Lanrick for a luxury stay.
The Treehouses at Lanrick
I chose the Treecreeper treehouse which has an upcycled theme – inside the walls are decorated using the old doors from Lanrick Castle. Our treehouse looked like it got the most sun which was lovely as we lucked out with the weather.
Each treehouse is far apart from the others and you each have parking next to the treehouses. There is no wifi or tv which we loved as we wanted to get away from the world for a couple of days.
Treecreeper has a living and kitchen area with a log burner and the kitchen was fully kitted out with a fridge freezer, oven and hob. Outside, there was also an electric grill which we used for a barbecue.
Back inside, one door led us to our private outdoor copper bath which was magical to soak in under the stars. There was a little post which you could put your drinks on which you can see I made use of!
Our bedroom had a comfortable super king-size bed and vintage furniture – doors from the bedroom opened out to the deck area and from the bed, you could see the trees.
Thoughtful touches in the treehouse were an ice bucket with champagne (as we were celebrating an anniversary), a welcome pack which consisted of bread, jams, milk, eggs and teabags, games, a picnic bag we could use and a list of birds and wildlife that had been spotted in the area. Everything in the treehouse felt high quality, so much effort has gone into the build and design of each treehouse, and every treehouse is different (one even has a rope bridge). It was very much worth the money and would make for a lovely treat stay for a honeymoon or special celebration.
Before the stay, you can download an app with lots of information about your stay including a gallery and information about your treehouse. You can also pre-book food packs which they buy from a local farm shop – leaving you to just check in and relax!
One morning, I woke up and saw a red squirrel darting down the path by the treehouse! It’s a very peaceful place – all we could hear were birds chirping.
The Lanrick Estate
As this was a luxury stay (something we don’t normally do so this was definitely a treat) we wanted to get the most of the treehouse so we didn’t venture anywhere except for a wander around the estate. From the treehouses, you can walk around the estate with no need for a car. A walking map was supplied in our treehouse and we followed it to see all the interesting points – including a stone tree!
The estate is beautiful, it’s set in woodland and you can walk down to the river where there were little wooden huts for group gatherings or indoor picnics. It felt like we were far away from the treehouse despite only being about a fifteen-minute walk away and we didn’t bump into anyone else so felt very secluded.
I felt so pleased we had chosen The Treehouses at Lanrick to celebrate our anniversary, the whole experience was just what we were looking for; a quirky, luxurious and peaceful stay. If you wanted to explore Stirlingshire and beyond, the treehouses were in a good location for that.
